... that severall times within the time lilate (as this exte beleives) he has heard the arte Jeremy Welfitt in the house wherin this extes master Henry Eskrick then lived scituate in the greate Shambles in Yorke, but can not remember any pticular time, speaking to the said Alice Wood, say Is not thou a whore, I can prove thee a theife. And sayes he beleives his said master, and his mrs Judith Eskrick, and Isabell Collinson then their servt or some of them might be and were sometimes present at the speaking of the sd words, but he can not name any particular time when they or any of them were...

... severall times within the monthes lilate within the yeare 1684 lilate this exte has heard the arte Mr Jeremy Welfitt in the house wherein this exte then lived in the greater Shambles in York speakeing to and of the said Alice Wood say, Is not thou whore, I can prove thee a theife, and once particularly within those monthes, he this exte heard him the sd Jeremy speake the same words in the place predeposed, to the said Alice Wood in the presence of Mr Robert Tyson and Ralph Chaytor and John Mosey & others, And at severall times and in the presence of of severall persons, but can not name any particular day or time when such persons were present...

... that severall times somewhat above a yeare agoe and within the time lilate, when this exte lived with and was servt to Mr Henry Eskrick whoe then lived in the greate Shambles in Yorke, she has in her said master Henry Eskrick's kitching heard the arte Jeremy Welfit aske the arte Alice Wood if she had any fatt kine, or kye, to sell, whereupon she usually answered Noe rogue what's that to thee, whereto he answered againe if I be a rogue, I am noe whore, which said words have severall times about the times predeposed passed betwixt them the sd Welfitt & Wood in the presence of divers psons but his depont can not now remember whoe was present at any pticular time...

... in July last, but what day this exte can not now remember as this exte and the arte Jeremy Welfitt were walking before this extes doore in the pavemt or thereabouts, the arte Alice Wood came by them, and the sd Jeremy Welfitt then and there said to this exte she (meaning the said Alice Wood as this Exte supposed & does beleive) is a theife and I thinke to prove her a whore. And soone after that time, but whether in July last or not this depont can not remember, he this depont heard the sd Jeremy Welfitt about the place predeposed as the sd Alice Wood passed by say that she (meaning the sd Alice Wood (as this exte beleives) was a theife and that he was within an inch of proveing her a whore, And this exte beleives Mr Robert Davy alsoe at the same time heard him speake thie sd words...

... that some time last sumer~ but what month this depont can not remember now... this exte his precontest Mr ffoster and the arte Jeremy Welfitt were standing all together neare Mr ffoster's doore in the pavemt when a woman that then lived with Mr Chrofer~ Jackson clerke whoe goes by the name of Alice Wood passed by them towards the pavemt crosse, when and where the sd Jeremy Welfitt said that he could prove her a theife, and that he was within an inch of proveing her a whore, But whether he meant of the sd Alice Wood or not this exte can not depose, nor of whome he meant...
